Welcome to the Water Bills 2019 page at LIV.
LIV supports two major reforms for groundwater in the 2019 legislative Session. They were drafted by volunteer and top Texas water lawyer, James Murphy. Be sure to visit Jame's stinging testimony before the Natural Resources Committee on March 5th -- it's a treat for those of us trying to conserve our most precious resource -- the water underlying us in Texas Aquifers. Don't mine us, mind us!
2. James Murphy, Esq., testimony keeping the Lower Colorado River Authority out of the groundwater conveyance game testimony to Sunset Commission, December 17, 2018. The bill is the third page: Murphy Testimony to Sunset Commission, December 17. 2019, with LCRA Legislation.
3. Quick slide show review of SOME water bills by Chris Mullins, Esq., Save Our Springs Alliance, presented at LIV Lobby Day, March 5. SOS addresses concerns about some aspects of legislation, not intended to be a complete review of all bills or even all aspects of any bills.
4. Slide show presented by Michele Gangnes, Esq., at March 5 LIV Lobby Day. Ganges, is a co-founder of LIV who currently serves on LIV's Advisory Committee and is a founder and Director of the Simsboro Aquifer Water Defense Fund.
5. Read this News Alert about House Bill 1066 by Rep. Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin) and House Natural Resources Chair, Rep. Lyle Larson (R-San Antonio). LIV, Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance, SAWDF and even the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (which permitted Vista Ridge/San Antone Hose) oppose the bill. LIV, FARFA and SAWDF are asking for amendments to protect Texas groundwater, landowners and a public process.
Be sure to visit LIV's News section for most recent updates on water, land (eminent domain reform) and small "d" democracy electoral reforms.
