LIV's water priority in the 2021 Legislative Session is to get action on Vista Ridge/San Antone Hose. No reform bills have been offered. This disaster in the making has long been ignored by legislative leaders from both parties and the San Antonio City Council. Yet, the alliance between a public utility -- San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and profiteers at Vista Ridge, LLC is intolerable as ancient aquifers not 40 miles from the Capitol are mined without regard to the duty to manage aquifers, landowners rights and ratepayer abuse. It is as if they never heard of the Conservation Clause of the Texas Constitution (Article 16 - Sec. 59).
LIV also has mounds of evidence to show State Officials and lawmakers. One of the most recent and best are these FAQs (note number 2) parked at the SAWS Act PAC.
Here's LIV'a marching orders -- dear citizens -- on the water front!
Call your legislators -- House and Senate and Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Speaker of the House Dade Phelan. Ask them to "investigate SAWS and Vista Ridge before we have another disaster." Then, urge them to get in touch with us at LIV for more information. They can call us at 512.213.4511 or email us at email@example.com.
