Houston Redistricting Hearing Part II

October 23, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 5:00 pm

LIV  leaders will be attending this Houston Redistricting Hearing and as many of the state's redistricting hearings as we can over the course of the year. What is our goal? To do all we can to ensure competitive (as opposed to gerrymandered) districts which we believe helps our small "d" democracy and the republic for which we stand. We also want to use these events to educate folks on the benefits of independent citizens redistricting commissions. Only one, so far, exists in Texas and was passed via citizens petitioning in Austin in 2012.

Please note:  Though this meeting starts at 11:30 am, there is no set time for its closing.

San Antonio Redistricting Hearing

LIV supports independent citizens redistricting commissions via a lottery system like Austin.

We'll be testifying and also talking to folks in attendance about pushing for an Independent Citizens Restricting Commission (ICRC) chosen by lottery.
