What does Vista Ridge Mean for the RATEPAYERS of San Antonio?
November 16, 2015 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm CDT
This event, co-sponsored by the League of Independent Voters and the San Antonio Tea Party, is being held in order to educate San Antonians about the Vista Ridge water project and why there is growing opposition.
This event will take place just before the San Antonio City Council votes on the rates for Vista Ridge -- on Thursday, November 19th.
The 142-mile Vista Ridge water pipeline involves a complex public-private partnership with SAWS, Austin-based Blue Water Systems and the Spanish-based Abengoa. It carries real risks to the people, their land and their water rights in these counties: Burleson, Milam, Lee and Bastrop. This slow recharge aquifer is also heavily relied upon by Bryan-College Station.
Be sure to watch the 17-minutes Vista Ridge video on our home page and sign the petition.
The San Antonio City Council is expected to vote on 50%+ rate hikes to pay for Vista Ridge -- though this water will not be used in San Antonio for years to come. It will be used to build out in dry areas between Austin and San Antonio.
Watch the video on our home page and sign the letter petition. And come on over to talk real turkey on how to put a stop to this destructive and costly boondoggle.
